Data Methodology

Primary source

SEC EDGAR — the US Securities and Exchange Commission's Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system. All company profiles are derived from EDGAR submissions, which are public records under US law.

XBRL financials

Financial metrics (revenue, net income, assets, employee counts) are extracted from structured XBRL data via the SEC Company Facts API (data.sec.gov/api/xbrl/companyfacts/). These figures are exactly as filed; we do not normalise or adjust them.

Filing types

We index 10-K (annual), 10-Q (quarterly), and 8-K (current event) filings. Filing dates, periods of report, and document links point directly to SEC EDGAR URLs.

SIC codes

Industry classification uses the SEC's Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. Descriptions are sourced from the SEC's own SIC code list.

Freshness

EDGAR data is refreshed periodically. Individual pages are regenerated via Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR) with a 30-day revalidation window.

Postal and geographic data is provided by GeoNames (geonames.org) under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC-BY 4.0).

Coverage

We index ~41,000 five-digit US ZIP codes and ~29,500 named places across all 50 states, DC, and US territories, derived from the GeoNames US postal code dataset.

Coordinates

Latitude and longitude values represent the centroid of the postal delivery zone as provided by GeoNames. Accuracy codes range from 1 (estimated) to 6 (exact centroid). Where multiple records exist for one ZIP, the highest-accuracy entry is used.

Population

Population counts are not available from GeoNames. We are working on integrating US Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) data (Table DP05) for ZIP-level and place-level population estimates. Until then, population fields are intentionally omitted from display.

Attribution

"Postal data © GeoNames (geonames.org), CC-BY 4.0" — as required by the licence, this attribution appears on all pages that display geographic data.

Delaware

Entity data for Delaware is sourced from the Delaware Division of Corporations (corp.delaware.gov), a public-record system. Data includes entity name, file number, type, status, and registered agent.

Other states

We are progressively adding Secretary of State data for other US states. Coverage is noted on individual state pages.

No guarantee of completeness

Sprytne.com aggregates public data. We cannot guarantee that all entities are listed or that all information is current. SEC EDGAR covers only reporting companies (public registrants). Many private companies are not included.

Name & address normalisation

Company names and addresses are presented as filed. We apply minimal normalisation (whitespace trimming, uppercase standardisation); we do not alter legal names.

Company profiles

Refreshed on a rolling 30-day ISR cycle, or sooner when a new 8-K/10-K filing triggers a revalidation.

ZIP & city pages

Revalidated every 30 days. GeoNames source data is re-downloaded and rebuilt quarterly.

State registrations

Updated at minimum monthly; Delaware daily where API permits.
